Kokopelli's Dance (level: difficult-very difficult) Instrumentation: standard wind ensemble Description: This popular piece (also commissioned and recorded by the UNLV Wind Orchestra) has received rave reviews from band directors around the country. It's difficulty level is perfect for professional, university, or even advanced high school wind ensembles. This piece features many soloists within the ensemble including flute, tuba, and timpani. Three Steps Forward (level: difficult-very difficult) Instrumentation: standard wind ensemble plus soprano sax solo, piano, electric bass, and drums. Description: This multi-movement piece was originally commissioned by UNLV to feature Eric Marienthal, Russell Ferrante, Jimmy Haslip, and Will Kennedy. This ground-breaking 30-minute piece combines aspects of jazz as well as classical music in an incredible display of rhythm and tonal color. Four Flew Over the Hornet's Nest (level: difficult-very difficult) Instrumentation: Standard Wind Ensemble + Alto Sax Solo, Piano, Electric Bass, Drums Description: This piece was commissioned by the UNLV Wind Orchestra and recorded on the Klavier Label. The recording features Eric Marienthal on alto sax, Russell Ferrante on piano, Ric Fierabracci on Electric Bass, and Joel Taylor on Drums.
